Peter Capaldi

Peter Capaldi is a celebrated Scottish actor, writer and director whose distinctive screen presence has made him one of Britain’s most recognisable performers. He is best known internationally for portraying the Twelfth Doctor in the long-running BBC science-fiction series *Doctor Who*, bringing intensity, wit and emotional depth to the iconic role from 2013 to 2017. Before stepping into the TARDIS, Capaldi earned widespread acclaim as the fearsome and spectacularly foul-mouthed political strategist Malcolm Tucker in the award-winning comedy series *The Thick of It* and its film spin-off, *In the Loop*. His razor-sharp performance became one of the defining television characters of modern British comedy. His extensive career also includes memorable appearances in *Torchwood*, *The Hour*, *Skins*, *The Devil’s Hour* and *Criminal Record*. Film audiences may recognise him as Mr Curry in the *Paddington* films, The Thinker in James Gunn’s *The Suicide Squad*, and Professor Marcus in *The Personal History of David Copperfield*. Alongside acting, Capaldi is an accomplished writer and director. He won an Academy Award for Best Live Action Short Film for *Franz Kafka’s It’s a Wonderful Life*, which he wrote and directed.
